Functional Perspective on Group Decision Making

Gouran and Hirokawa theory of The Functional Perspective describe and predicts task group performance when four communication functions are fulfilled. The theory face many obstacles or issues that would take place such as finding more facts for the task at hand, accompanied with a clear and thinking mind. When working in a group you are more likely to have a positive result. When coming to making a decision there are four major function that makes up the “Group Decision Making”, goal setting,evaluation of positive and negative characteristics, analysis of the problem and the identification of alternatives.

The recent classic of all “Jump Street” after Channing Tatum (Jenko) and Jonah Hill(Schmidt) went through high school as undercover. They faced a new challenge to find a drug that is being distributed throughout the college known as “Wifi”. Jenko and Schmidt runs into a road block. When Jenko becomes a part of the football team the team welcomes him with open arms but was not so open with Schmidt this treatment from the football team caused tension between the partners. As Jenko became deeply involved with the team he leaves Schmidt out which gets under his skin. Now emotions are running wild and they begin to separate. This issue detours the process of finding this drug that is being past throughout the college. Once they overcame the adversity of living two separate lives in college they put their brains together and cracked the case by remembering the tattoo of the drug dealer, which happened to be a teammates of Jenko.
