“I broached that and I had to go through the Counseling Center of all places they wanted to make sure I was secure, stable in who I was before I was presenting myself to be in front of other students. I find that so interesting now because in that period of time it was almost as if it was, there was some psychological work that needed to go on to make sure you were okay to say that you were gay in front of other people.”
