Even Trump loves babies

Abortion has always and will always be a main division between political parties in America. Republicans, throughout history, have always been strong supporters of the pro-life belief and “look upon abortion as wrong,” furthermore, considering it an important moral issue in today’s society. Historically, Republicans are more unified than Democrats on the issue of abortion, as 68% of Republicans are pro-life (Saad). Republicans have consistently upheld the right to life of unborn babies ever since Roe vs. Wade and illustrate their position by saying: “that every human being, born and unborn, young and old, healthy and disabled, has a fundamental, individual, right to life” (RNC)

Trump, in alignment with the beliefs of the Republican party he is representing, also supports pro-life stances- even going to the lengths to say “there would have to be some form of punishment for women to seek out abortion [if it were to be made illegal.]” He then, clarified his previous statement, in an interview with CNN, by stating that only the doctors that performed the abortion should succumb to some sort of legal punishment (NY Times). Pollard states, in Political Parties or Sociological Parties, that “women are 90 percent less likely to have favorable views of Trump than men are,” which is understandable, considering statements such as the one previously mentioned. Donald Trump’s stance on abortion, however aggressive it may be, puts the Republican party back in line with the original anti-abortion activists who were the original backbone of the Republican party.

As previously stated, Republicans have notoriously been strong patrons toward pro-life movements. However, Donald Trump used to identify himself as pro-choice he had family friend, who after careful thought and consideration, choose not to abort their baby, which is ironic considering how persistent he is about his opinion today. Trump then saw the happiness the child brought into the lives of his friend and reconsidered his stance on abortion. Today, he is one of the most adamant supporters of pro-life belief the Republican party has ever had.
