Week Two: Shoreline, Beverly Hills

Week two of my internship with Shoreline is off to a great start! Shoreline’s LA offices are located in Beverly Hills, which is nice because I’m able to continue to explore more of LA’s many neighborhoods.

Shoreline’s offices, like many work environments in the film industry, are relatively causal and driven by mostly independent work. My intern responsibilities at Shoreline include finding films that Shoreline can look into selling, watching screener films, contacting filmmakers and producers on behalf of Shoreline, and doing script coverage. Additionally, I am responsible, along with the other Shoreline interns, for contributing to the company film tracker which is essentially and index of all the films Shoreline has pursued for sales representation.

This summer, I am expecting to learn as much as possible about the sales side of the film industry. I believe it will only help me to better understand how film distribution and sales work as I look to write/direct, and distribute my films in the future. And, thanks to Shoreline and my supervisor Melody, I have the opportunity to learn essentials (like script coverage) and to sit in on filmmaker meetings The highlight of my week has really been having my supervisor Melody train me personally on screener coverage, the company film tracker, etc. Having someone thoroughly explaining and helping me develop these essential skills, is really nice because it makes the learning process much easier for me.

I’m thrilled to have begun my internship with Shoreline and I’m looking forward for the weeks to come!
