Week #1 The Beginning

Hello, my name is Donovan Martin and I am originally from a small town near Atlanta, but in the past six years, my family has moved from Charlotte, NC, to Brunswick, GA, and now to Savannah, GA. I am a rising Junior this summer and I plan on majoring in Politics and International Affairs with minors in Women’s Gender and Sexuality studies and Entrepreneurship. This summer I will be doing a marketing internship with a local marketing agency called Royalty Marketing. I have been given the job of project coordinator and there are many responsibilities to that role.

This summer I am hoping to get many things done related to my work and personal objectives. One day I would like to own and operate my own business and I feel like learning from an entrepreneurial perspective is very important. Because I will be allowed to work very closely with the owner of the company I want to learn as much as I can about starting and operating a business venture. I am hoping to learn how to plan out large business projects by assisting in the development and implementation of new projects and initiatives. Personally, I am very excited to begin on this journey. I cannot wait to see how the business runs and what types of work-related activities I will be doing in order to support Royalty Marketing. I am also really looking forward to working with Mr. Daryl Shaw this summer. He was a Wake Grad and to some degree has become a mentor for me.

In order to plan and track my accomplishments, I plan to document everything I do no matter how small the task. I want to know and remember everything I can about not only creating successful projects and marketing campaigns but also running and operating a successful business. Through this internship, I am really hoping to channel my own thoughts and ideas about the type of business I want to start and I believe that this internship will be an amazing learning opportunity for me.

Can’t wait to get started,

Donovan Martin
