Progress at CCT

I can’t believe that this is already my third to last post for the summer! I have learned so, so much from my time at CCT and I keep soaking in more information that will help me with whatever career I end up doing in the future. Like usual, I spent the week keeping up CCT’s social media accounts and learning more about the do’s and don’t’s of posting for non-profits. One exciting thing I learned that will really, really benefit me in the future is how to set up a Google AdWords campaign. Another intern and I set up an entire AdWords campaign to advertise for the fall classes at CCT together on Thursday, and that was a huge learning experience! It’s very tedious to set up and there are a lot of different things that go into building these campaigns, so it was nice to build my foundation of knowledge for an important thing like this. Additionally, I’ve been submitting dates for our events, like the shows in the fall, to local Chicago event calendars, which has taken a good amount of research and digging to see how the submission process works. One thing that has surprised me is how small of a budget CCT has to work with, and then what amazing things they do with this small budget. It’s inspiring to see a non-profit work with what it’s given, and I’ve definitely learned that at CCT.

One highlight from this week in Chicago was seeing a movie in a park in the Wicker Park neighborhood on Thursday night! The Chicago Park District puts on free events like this all summer long, and it was super fun because the movie they showed was National Treasure. It was a beautiful night and I didn’t have to spend any money to have fun! Although I’ve lived here all my life, it’s still fun to explore different places in the city as I move more into my adult life. Until next week!
