Week 5: In the Swing of Things

This week I can proudly say that I have felt as though everything has come together. I can now pretty much carry myself without any assistance or the need to ask questions or anything. I am confident in and know what I am doing.

It has surprised me how quickly I have come to enjoy the company of the people who I work with. Being with them everyday, I was honestly scared that I would grow to tire of their presence, but the opposite has happened and we have all become very close friends over this past month and I genuinely hope that I can continue growing these relationships in the future.

I have learned that although people from very different backgrounds are working on a project, they can all enjoy working together and use their different perspectives to make the project better than it could have been otherwise.

The highlight of my week was interacting with people of the community in which I work. This week was public archaeology week where we invited the people of Jonesville, where the site is located, to come and ask questions and see what we do on a daily basis. It was inspiring to see how our work impacts the current residents of Jonesville. Jonesville is a small town in NC and our work ding archaeology brings in a great amount of tourism which boosts the economy here greatly. Hearing the stories that people told and answering the questions very much made my week, as well as the respect that they had for us as a major part of their town.
