Week 4 @ PruittHealth

PruittHealth started as a single nursing home facility by a man named Neil Pruitt. Mr. Pruitt, who set up shop in Atlanta, Ga., quickly began buying other nursing home facilities in hopes of creating a system of extremely well-maintained skilled nursing home facilities. As Pruitt began to expand, they company quickly found itself in NC, SC, and Georgia. Although they are considered one of the best skilled nursing home companies in the south now, Pruitt has began to expand in other facets of healthcare, including creating their own pharmacy service. Some growing pains of the company came with expansion, and being able to effectively manage the same nursing home facilities in multiple states, where regulations often differ. The pharmacy service has also taken a slow start, due to the nature of federal drug and prescription regulations.

One of the highlights of my week was when I traveled back to Forsyth Hospial with a transition nurse to attempt to capatilize on a possible referral. We were able to effectively receive and confirm a referral of a short term rehabilitation patient.
