Ever Since Anna Conte took a community journalism class at Wake Forest she knew journalism was her calling. She enjoyed writing stories based on interesting and pressing issues in downtown Winston-Salem.
Anna Conte from Ethica New York wants to study journalism as a minor at Wake Forest because she believes that it is a “great minor that can apply to a lot of different things.” She sees herself as a possible political reporter or in magazine writing.
She likes that journalism is a great “opportunity to get out there and interact with a wide variety of people” (Anna Conte). In the future she does not see herself sitting down in a cubicle, instead she wants to be in a “social interactive setting” learning about the everyday issues in the world.

Yesterday six-year old Iza Lilly Morris and her father, Derek Moris, were found dead at 3:25 at 5356 Old Rural Hall Road according to a report from the Winston-Salem Police Department. Both victims appeared to have suffered single gunshot wounds.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division found that Derek Morris was estranged from his wife, the mother of Iza Morris. The couple was reportedly in the early stages of separating and fighting over custody of Iza.
The investigation is continuing with the Medical Examiner’s Office to examine any medical conditions that will help solve the case. Anyone with further information concerning this case is requested to contact the Winston Salem Police department or Crime Stoppers at 727-2800.

Last night there was an armed robbery at Hanes Mall on Silas Creek Parkway, according to a report from the Winston-Salem Police Department. The victims, Amanda Eversole and Deridra Power, are two employees of the business Buckles, said the report. They were ambushed by a suspect, wearing a black hoodie pulled up and black sweat pants, armed with a handgun that demanded the bank deposit bag.
The Suspect is a black man 6 feet and weighs between 150-170 pounds. He was last seen running towards the woods. There was an extensive K-9 search, but no new evidence to help identify the suspect was found.
The Winston-Salem Police Department requests that anyone with relevant information regarding the crime contact Crime stoppers at 727-2800.

Stevie Eagan, a sophomore at Wake Forest University, who majors in Political Science and minors in Economics watched the Republican Debate last night. She believed that Donald Trump dominated the debate because he was confident and discussed the issues that the average american is concerned about. I liked how he “called out the current politicians for their incompetence in dealing with immigration, terrorism, health care, and the economy.” Overall, she thought that it was an interesting debate and is looking forward to vote for her first time.
