On Thursday, August 29 eight women of the ZSR Library swung hammers, raised walls, and lugged lumber as part of Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County’s Labor of Love Building Blitz. Two special builds took place during Labor of Love – the Hospice Healing Build and the Women Build – and this year the ZSR Team participated in the Women Build.
The Labor of Love Building Blitz kicked off the start of this year’s build season. From August 28 through August 31, volunteers raised the walls and installed dry wall in four new houses while continuing to build on two remodels and one other new house.
When the ZSR Team arrived on-site on Thursday, the foundation of a house had been laid, and the ZSR Team worked side by side with other volunteers and one future beneficiary of a Habitat home who was putting in some of her required sweat equity hours. By the end of the day, we had raised the exterior walls and some interior walls, as well, and the frame had taken shape. When I left, I could truly imagine a family enjoying that space for many years to come.
At the time of this post, the ZSR team is more than 50% towards its fundraising goal. If you would like to donate, please visit the ZSR Team’s fundraising page.
